SEE ALSO...

Shank 2 Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Shank 2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Shank 2 antibody (A-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Shank 2 is a critical component of the postsynaptic density (PSD), a specialized structure that plays a vital role in synaptic signaling and plasticity. The PSD is essential for anchoring and clustering glutamate receptors, which are crucial for excitatory neurotransmission. Shank 2 contains multiple protein interaction domains, including PDZ domains, which facilitate the assembly of signaling complexes by recognizing specific sequence motifs at the C-terminus of target proteins. This interaction is fundamental for maintaining synaptic integrity and function, as Shank 2 helps coordinate the localization of ion channels and receptors, thereby influencing synaptic strength and plasticity. Shank 2′s ability to interact with other proteins, such as betaPIX and PAK, underscores Shank 2′s role in regulating the structural dynamics of dendritic spines, which are critical for synaptic transmission and cognitive processes. The diverse splice variants of Shank proteins enhance the complexity of Shank 2 interactions within the PSD, ensuring proper neuronal development and function.

Are there any issues with using sc-271834: Shank 2 (A-11) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-271834 conjugates.
