SEE ALSO...

Smad2 Antibody (YZ-13) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Smad2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Smad2 antibody (YZ-13) is available in a non-conjugated form, allowing for versatile experimental use. Smad2 plays a crucial role in the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling pathway, which is essential for regulating cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Smad2 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and nucleus, where Smad2 translocates upon phosphorylation in response to TGF-β signaling. This localization enables Smad2 to act as a transcription factor, regulating the expression of target genes that mediate the cellular response to TGF-β. Smad2′s ability to shuttle between the cytoplasm and nucleus underscores Smad2′s importance in cellular signaling and gene regulation, making Smad2 a key player in developmental processes and tissue homeostasis. Smad2 interacts with other Smad proteins, such as Smad3 and Smad4, to form complexes that facilitate the transcription of TGF-β target genes, further emphasizing Smad2′s role in the intricate network of cellular signaling pathways.

Can this antibody be used for detected phosphorylated smad2 via IF in free floating coronal brain sections? Or do you have another antibody for that? Kindly let me know.

Asked by: Sonam
Thank you for your question. Our Smad2 (YZ-13) sc-101153 antibody is appropriate for detection total Smad2, phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated, in IF. We have not specifically validated it for free floating sections. We do not currently have a p-Smad2 specific antibody. Please contact Technical Service by phone, (800)-457-3801 option 2, email <scbt@scbt.com>, or by live chat directly on our website, www.scbt.com if you have any further questions.

Can Smad2 (YZ-13): sc-101153 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jenni
Thank you for your question. Yes, Smad2 (YZ-13): sc-101153 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
