The group of chemical compounds known as Peroxin 1 Inhibitors primarily work through the modulation of lipid metabolism and peroxisome proliferation. HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors like Lovastatin, Atorvastatin, Pravastatin, Simvastatin, and Fluvastatin reduce cholesterol biosynthesis, a process that peroxisomes are involved in. The reduction in lipid biosynthesis can indirectly inhibit the functional activity of Peroxin 1 as it is involved in the biogenesis of peroxisomes. Therefore, the decreased demand for peroxisome biogenesis due to the lowered lipid biosynthesis could lead to the functional inhibition of Peroxin 1.
On the other hand, PPARα agonists such as Fenofibrate, Gemfibrozil, and Clofibrate, and PPARγ agonists like Rosiglitazone and Pioglitazone can increase the expression of genes involved in lipid metabolism, leading to an increase in peroxisome proliferation. This increased demand for peroxisomes could overwhelm the functional capacity of Peroxin 1, leading to its inhibition. Clotrimazole, which inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a process partially occurring in peroxisomes, can also lead to a decrease in Peroxin 1 activity. Similarly, Zileuton, a 5-lipoxygenase inhibitor, can decrease the production of leukotrienes metabolized in peroxisomes, leading to reduced Peroxin 1 activity due to decreased peroxisome need.

Lovastatin | 75330-75-5 | sc-200850 sc-200850A sc-200850B | 5 mg 25 mg 100 mg | $28.00 $88.00 $332.00 | 12
Lovastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that reduces cholesterol biosynthesis. Peroxin 1 is involved in the biogenesis of peroxisomes which are involved in various metabolic pathways including the breakdown of very long chain fatty acids and the biosynthesis of certain lipids. The reduction of lipid biosynthesis by Lovastatin can indirectly inhibit the functional activity of Peroxin 1.
Fenofibrate | 49562-28-9 | sc-204751 | 5 g | $40.00 | 9
Fenofibrate is a PPARα agonist. It increases the expression of enzymes involved in peroxisomal and mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation. This can lead to an increase in peroxisome proliferation, potentially overwhelming the Peroxin 1 protein and leading to its functional inhibition.
Zileuton | 111406-87-2 | sc-204417 sc-204417A sc-204417B sc-204417C | 10 mg 50 mg 1 g 75 g | $82.00 $301.00 $362.00 $1229.00 | 8
Zileuton is a 5-lipoxygenase inhibitor that can decrease the production of leukotrienes, which are metabolized in the peroxisomes. This reduction can indirectly lead to decreased Peroxin 1 activity, as fewer peroxisomes are needed for leukotriene metabolism.
Gemfibrozil | 25812-30-0 | sc-204764 sc-204764A | 5 g 25 g | $65.00 $262.00 | 2
Gemfibrozil is a fibric acid derivative and a PPARα agonist. It increases the expression of peroxisomal enzymes involved in fatty acid oxidation. This increase in enzyme expression can lead to a higher demand for peroxisome biogenesis, potentially overwhelming the functional capacity of Peroxin 1.
Atorvastatin | 134523-00-5 | sc-337542A sc-337542 | 50 mg 100 mg | $252.00 $495.00 | 9
Atorvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that reduces cholesterol biosynthesis. As Peroxin 1 is involved in peroxisome biogenesis and these organelles participate in lipid metabolism, decreased lipid biosynthesis can indirectly inhibit the functional activity of Peroxin 1.
Clotrimazole | 23593-75-1 | sc-3583 sc-3583A | 100 mg 1 g | $41.00 $56.00 | 6
Clotrimazole is an antifungal agent in research that also inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a major component of fungal cell membranes. Ergosterol biosynthesis partially occurs in peroxisomes, and thus, its inhibition can lead to decreased Peroxin 1 activity.
