NALP1 Inhibitors

NALP1 inhibitors are a class of chemical compounds that target a specific protein known as NALP1, short for Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain, Leucine-rich Repeat, and Pyrin domain-containing protein 1. NALP1 is a crucial component of the innate immune system, playing a pivotal role in the regulation of inflammatory responses and the initiation of the innate immune defense against various pathogens. This protein belongs to a larger family of proteins called NLRP (Nod-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing) proteins, which are involved in the formation of multiprotein complexes known as inflammasomes. Inflammasomes are key molecular platforms that activate the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18), as well as induce pyroptotic cell death in response to infection or cellular stress.
