GPR155 Activators

GPR155 activators are primarily focused on indirect activation through the modulation of G protein-coupled receptor pathways. GPCRs are a large family of cell surface receptors that respond to various extracellular signals. The activation of these receptors typically involves the binding of a ligand, which triggers a conformational change in the receptor, leading to the activation of intracellular G proteins. These G proteins then modulate various secondary messengers and signaling pathways within the cell.

Forskolin, for instance, directly stimulates adenylyl cyclase, leading to an increase in cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels, a common secondary messenger involved in GPCR signaling. This increase in cAMP can have downstream effects on various GPCRs, including GPR155. On the other hand, compounds like Isoproterenol and Pilocarpine act as agonists for specific GPCRs (beta-adrenergic and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, respectively). Their action can influence the overall GPCR landscape within a cell, which may include effects on GPR155 signaling.
