GAGE10 Inhibitors

"G antigen 10," also known as GAGE10, is a member of the G antigen family, a group of proteins predominantly expressed in germ cells and various cancers. GAGE10 is encoded by the GAGE10 gene located on chromosome Xq28. This protein belongs to the cancer/testis antigen (CTA) group, characterized by their restricted expression pattern in normal tissues and aberrant expression in various cancers, including melanoma, lung cancer, and sarcomas.GAGE10 plays a significant role in tumorigenesis and cancer progression. While its exact function remains largely elusive, studies suggest its involvement in cellular processes such as cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and transcriptional regulation. GAGE10 expression is tightly regulated and predominantly restricted to male germ cells in normal physiological conditions. However, aberrant expression in cancer cells is attributed to epigenetic changes, such as DNA hypomethylation and histone modifications, leading to its reactivation in cancerous tissues.

GAGE10 expression has been explored as a potential biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Challenges remain in fully elucidating the biological functions of GAGE10. Further research into the molecular mechanisms underlying GAGE10 expression and its role in cancer biology is warranted to harness its full potential in cancer diagnosis.
