CtBP2 Activators

Common CtBP2 Activators include, but are not limited to Retinoic Acid, all trans CAS 302-79-4, Curcumin CAS 458-37-7, 5-Aza-2′-Deoxycytidine CAS 2353-33-5, Trichostatin A CAS 58880-19-6 and β-Estradiol CAS 50-28-2.

CtBP2 activators are compounds that stimulate the activity or expression of CtBP2 (C-terminal binding protein 2). CtBP2 is a member of the CtBP family, which consists of transcriptional corepressors. These proteins play a pivotal role in regulating gene expression by interacting with various transcription factors and modulating their activity. CtBPs are unique because, apart from their function in transcriptional repression, they also possess dehydrogenase activity, linking their function to cellular metabolism, specifically the NADH/NAD+ ratio.

The role of CtBP2 in transcriptional regulation is multifaceted. By interacting with a plethora of transcription factors, CtBP2 can influence a wide range of cellular processes, from cell cycle regulation and apoptosis to differentiation and development. CtBP2 achieves its corepressor function by recruiting chromatin-modifying enzymes, such as histone deacetylases, which modify chromatin structure and render it less accessible for transcription. CtBP2 activators, by enhancing the enzyme's activity or expression, can amplify its repressive effects on target genes, influencing various cellular pathways regulated by this corepressor. Understanding the mechanisms by which CtBP2 activators function and their impact on the intricate network of gene regulation offers profound insights into the interplay between metabolism, chromatin remodeling, and gene expression. Moreover, delving into the diverse roles of CtBP2 in cellular processes, combined with insights from studies on its activators, provides a comprehensive view of the dynamic nature of transcriptional regulation and the molecular cues that govern cellular fate and function.
