CAT Activators

Catalase (CAT) activators are chemical compounds that indirectly support the enhancement of CAT's enzymatic function, which is crucial for the reduction of oxidative stress in cells. Sodium Pyruvate and Melatonin extend the active life of CAT by scavenging hydrogen peroxide and reactive oxygen species, respectively, shielding CAT from oxidative inactivation and allowing it to function more efficiently. N-Acetylcysteine, through its role in glutathione synthesis, indirectly minimizes the substrate availability for CAT, thus lessening the enzyme's workload. Zinc Sulfate and Manganese(II) chloride serve to stabilize or modify the catalytic core of the enzyme, potentially increasing its activity. Furthermore, compounds like Silymarin and Ascorbic Acid protect CAT from oxidative damage or reduce its substrate concentration, thereby facilitating sustained catalytic action.

Compounds such as Curcumin and Resveratrol indirectly upregulate CAT activity by influencing transcription factors and sirtuins involved in the oxidative stress response, leading to an increase in CAT's presence and activity. Alpha-lipoic acid indirectly contributes to the catalase function by regenerating endogenous antioxidants, thereby conserving CAT's activity for its primary reaction with hydrogen peroxide. Similarly, Quercetin's modulation of stress response pathways can result in enhanced CAT activity.
