PDE6D Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects phosphodiesterase 6D (PDE6D) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PDE6D plays a crucial role in the visual signaling pathway, specifically in the phototransduction cascade, where PDE6D regulates cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) levels in photoreceptor cells. This regulation is vital for maintaining proper function of rod and cone cells in the retina, as alterations in cGMP levels can lead to impaired vision and various retinal disorders. PDE6D is a retina-specific oligomer composed of two catalytic chains (α and β), an inhibitory chain (γ), and the δ chain, which together ensure precise modulation of cGMP levels. PDE6D interacts with key proteins such as RPGR, ARL2, and ARL3, which are essential for function and stability. PDE6D contains two N-linked glycosylation sites, which are important for proper folding and activity, further underscoring the significance of post-translational modifications in the regulation of this critical enzyme.
