CREST Antibody (D-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects CREST protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CREST (D-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The calcium-responsive transactivator (CREST, SS18L1) protein is crucial for the normal development of neuronal dendritic trees, as CREST localizes to nuclear bodies and plays a significant role in neuronal morphogenesis. CREST contains a multifunctional domain that is essential for transcriptional activation, nuclear body targeting, and dimerization, which are vital for regulatory functions. Notably, CREST interacts with the cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB)-binding protein (CBP), highlighting CREST′s importance in the regulation of neuronal growth and development. CREST exhibits ubiquitous expression, with the lowest levels found in the spleen, and studies have shown that mice with a targeted disruption of the Ss18l1 (CREST) gene remain viable, although these mice exhibit defects in cortical and hippocampal dendrite development. This finding underscores the critical role of calcium activation of CREST-mediated transcription in regulating neuronal morphogenesis, as cortical neurons from CREST-mutant mice demonstrate compromised calcium-dependent dendritic growth.
