caspase-9 Antibody (1-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects caspase-9 of human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). anti-caspase-9 antibody (1-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Caspase-9 is a crucial member of the Ced-3/caspase-1 family of cysteine proteases, which are integral to the apoptotic process. This family is characterized by its unique sequence, structure, and substrate specificity, distinguishing it from other protease families. Caspase-9 plays a pivotal role in the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis, where activation occurs in response to cellular stress and DNA damage. Once activated, caspase-9 initiates a cascade of proteolytic events by cleaving and activating downstream effector caspases, such as caspase-3 and caspase-7, which ultimately lead to programmed cell death. The regulation of apoptosis is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing uncontrolled cell proliferation, which can lead to cancer. Additionally, caspase-9 interacts with various proteins, including Apaf-1, which is essential for activation in the apoptosome complex, highlighting caspase-9′s importance in the cellular response to stress and damage.
