Activators of the protein KIAA1143 homolog are compounds that enhance the functional activity of this protein through a variety of cellular mechanisms. Forskolin and its derivative 8-Br-cAMP elevate intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels, which indirectly promote the activation of protein kinase A (PKA). PKA has the capacity to phosphorylate substrates, including the protein KIAA1143 homolog, thus potentially enhancing its activity. Similarly, IBMX works to prevent the degradation of cAMP, bolstering cAMP-dependent pathways that may lead to the activation of the KIAA1143 homolog. Direct activation of protein kinase C (PKC) by PMA could result in the phosphorylation and activation of the KIAA1143 homolog if it is a target for this kinase.
