**U4/U6 snRNP activators** are a class of compounds that enhance the expression or activity of the U4/U6 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP). The U4/U6 snRNP is a key component of the spliceosome, a large protein complex responsible for removing introns and joining exons during pre-mRNA splicing. U4/U6 snRNP activators can increase the levels of U4/U6 snRNP components, promote the assembly of the U4/U6 snRNP complex, or enhance its activity in splicing.
U4/U6 snRNP activators exert their effect by modulating different aspects of U4/U6 snRNP biology. Some U4/U6 snRNP activators, such as histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACis) and DNA methyltransferase inhibitors, promote chromatin remodeling and DNA demethylation, respectively, leading to increased transcription of U4/U6 snRNP genes.
