SPANX-A-E Activators

The SPANX-A-E genes, part of the SPANX (Sperm Protein Associated with the Nucleus, X chromosome) family, encode a group of proteins that are primarily expressed in human testicular tissue and are associated with sperm development. This family includes several closely related members, namely SPANX-A, SPANX-B, SPANX-C, SPANX-D, and SPANX-E, each encoded by distinct but related genes located on the X chromosome.

The SPANX proteins are known for their role in spermatogenesis, the process of sperm cell development. They are mainly expressed in post-meiotic spermatids, suggesting a role in the later stages of sperm maturation. These proteins are thought to be involved in the restructuring of chromatin and nuclear shaping that occurs during the transformation of spermatids into mature spermatozoa.
