Similarly, the activation of protein kinase C (PKC) by Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) is another pathway that could facilitate the enhancement of SerpinA3n by phosphorylating proteins that regulate its activity. Such upstream alterations in signaling cascades are also achieved by Sphingosine-1-phosphate and Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), where the former modulates lipid signaling that might stabilize SerpinA3n, and the latter inhibits kinases that when overactive, could suppress SerpinA3n function.
