OR56A4 initiate a cascade of intracellular events that culminate in the protein's activation. Forskolin, a direct stimulator of adenylyl cyclase, elevates cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels within the cell, which in turn activates protein kinase A (PKA). The activation of PKA is a critical step in the phosphorylation of OR56A4, preparing it for activation. IBMX, on the other hand, prevents the degradation of cAMP by inhibiting phosphodiesterases, which typically break down cAMP. The resultant rise in cAMP levels leads to the same activation of PKA, which is central to the phosphorylation state of OR56A4. These chemical agents, through their distinct interactions with cellular signaling pathways, ensure the activation of PKA, which then consistently targets OR56A4, facilitating its activation state.
