NF-1B inhibitors are a class of chemical compounds designed to target and modulate the activity of the NF-1B transcription factor. NF-1B, also known as nuclear factor kappa B, is a critical protein complex involved in the regulation of gene expression, immune responses, inflammation, and cell survival. It plays a pivotal role in maintaining cellular homeostasis by controlling the transcription of genes responsible for various cellular processes. In normal physiological conditions, NF-1B is tightly regulated and activated in response to specific signals such as cytokines, pathogens, and stressors. However, dysregulation of NF-1B activity is associated with numerous diseases, including cancer, autoimmune disorders, and chronic inflammation.
NF-1B inhibitors work by interfering with the signaling pathways that lead to NF-1B activation or by directly binding to the NF-1B complex itself. These inhibitors can modulate the activity of NF-1B by preventing its translocation to the nucleus, inhibiting its DNA binding capacity, or blocking its interactions with coactivators.
