Humanin Activators

Humanin is a small peptide encoded by the mitochondrial genome that has garnered significant attention in the field of molecular biology and aging research. Discovered in the early 2000s, Humanin was initially identified for its role in protecting cells from programmed cell death or apoptosis, particularly in the context of neurodegenerative diseases and age-related disorders.

Humanin's primary function is to counteract the pro-apoptotic effects of certain cell death pathways, making it a factor in promoting cell survival. This peptide exerts its anti-apoptotic effects by interacting with various cellular signaling pathways, including those related to oxidative stress and inflammation. By inhibiting apoptosis, Humanin may contribute to the maintenance of tissue homeostasis and play a protective role against neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Moreover, Humanin has also been implicated in broader aspects of health and longevity. Some studies suggest that elevated levels of Humanin may be associated with increased lifespan and improved metabolic health. Additionally, research is ongoing to explore the applications of Humanin in age-related diseases and conditions beyond neurodegeneration, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
