glypican-6 Activators

Glypican-6 (GPC6) is a cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan that plays a crucial role in the regulation of morphogen signaling pathways critical for development and cell differentiation, such as Wnt, Hedgehog, and FGF pathways. Chemicals such as Lithium Chloride, BIO, and SB216763 activate the Wnt signaling pathway by inhibiting GSK-3β, which in the absence of Wnt ligands promotes the degradation of β-catenin, a key signal transducer in the pathway. By preventing this degradation, these chemicals can lead to the accumulation of β-catenin in the nucleus and the subsequent transcriptional activation of Wnt target genes, which includes glypicans.
