DDX35 Activators

DDX35 activators are compounds that can enhance the activity of DDX35 by affecting specific cellular or biochemical processes. For instance, compounds like adenosine, forskolin, and epinephrine elevate intracellular cAMP levels. Elevated cAMP levels lead to the activation of cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA). PKA can then phosphorylate DDX35, enhancing its helicase activity. This activation is crucial for the unwinding of RNA structures, an essential process in RNA metabolism.

Another category of DDX35 activators, such as isoproterenol, caffeine, rolipram, and IBMX, operate through similar mechanisms, although via different targets. They either stimulate adrenergic receptors or inhibit phosphodiesterases to increase cAMP levels. In addition, compounds like dibutyryl-cAMP, Sp-cAMPS, and bucladesine are cell-permeable cAMP analogs that directly activate PKA, offering another route for the activation of DDX35. H-89, a PKA inhibitor, can paradoxically enhance DDX35 activity by increasing PKA activity through feedback inhibition.
