    SEE ALSO...

VAP-1 Antibody (6D828) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects VAP-1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). VAP-1, or vascular adhesion protein-1, plays a crucial role in the immune response by facilitating lymphocyte adhesion to the vascular endothelium, which is essential for immune cell migration from bloodstream to lymphoid tissues and inflammation sites. VAP-1 is primarily located on endothelial cell surfaces, where expression significantly increases under inflammatory conditions. VAP-1 functions as both an enzyme, specifically a monoamine oxidase, and an adhesion molecule, mediating lymphocyte adhesion and promoting recirculation. VAP-1 exists predominantly as a homodimer in vivo, and proper glycosylation is vital for immune cell trafficking function. VAP-1 is also expressed in various smooth muscle cells, although not supporting lymphocyte binding in these cells, instead playing a role in primary amine deamination, highlighting multifaceted functions in immune regulation and vascular biology. Elevated soluble VAP-1 levels in circulation have been associated with inflammatory liver diseases, making VAP-1 a potential biomarker for such conditions.
