SUV39H1 Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SUV39H1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-SUV39H1 antibody (C-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SUV39H1 plays a crucial role in regulating chromatin structure and gene expression through its function as a histone methyltransferase, specifically methylating Lysine 9 of Histone H3. This modification creates a binding site for heterochromatin protein 1 (HP1), which is essential for gene silencing and maintaining heterochromatin integrity. SUV39H1 presence at heterochromatic regions during interphase and localization at centromeres during metaphase depend on its C-terminal SET domain, highlighting SUV39H1′s importance in chromosomal organization. Additionally, phosphorylation of SUV39H1 at the G1/S transition of the cell cycle can influence activity and cellular functions. When overexpressed, SUV39H1 suppresses cell growth, indicating a role as a long-range repressor capable of silencing basal promoters over several kilobases. This multifaceted involvement in chromatin dynamics and gene regulation underscores SUV39H1′s significance in cellular processes and potential as a target for research in epigenetics and cancer biology.
