SUV39H1 Antibody (44.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SUV39H1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. anti-SUV39H1 antibody (44.1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SUV39H1 protein plays a crucial role in epigenetic regulation by specifically methylating Lysine 9 on the amino terminus of Histone H3, which creates a binding site for heterochromatin protein 1 (HP1). This interaction is vital for gene silencing and the maintenance of higher-order chromatin structures, influencing chromosome function and overall gene expression. SUV39H1 is characterized by the presence of both SET and chromo domains, and expression is ubiquitous across various tissues. Notably, SUV39H1 localization at heterochromatic foci during interphase and centromere-specific presence during metaphase are dependent on the C-terminal SET domain. Additionally, SUV39H1 undergoes phosphorylation at the G1/S cell cycle transition, which is significant for regulatory functions, as forced expression can suppress cell growth. SUV39H1 monoclonal antibody (44.1) is an essential tool for researchers studying chromatin dynamics, gene regulation, and the intricate mechanisms of epigenetic control.

Are there any issues with using sc-23961: SUV39H1 (44.1) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-23961 conjugates.
