SMS2 Antibody (7D10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SMS2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SMS2 antibody (7D10) is available as a non-conjugated format. The SMS (sphingomyelin synthase) family, which includes SMS1 and SMS2, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism, particularly in sphingomyelin synthesis, a vital component of cell membranes. SMS2 is primarily located at the plasma membrane, where SMS2 functions as a bidirectional lipid cholinephosphotransferase, converting phosphatidylcholine and ceramide into sphingomyelin and diacylglycerol, and vice versa, depending on substrate concentrations. This regulation is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and signaling, as sphingomyelin is involved in various cellular processes, including apoptosis and cell survival. SMS2 activity can be influenced by various factors, including specific inhibitors like Tricyclodecan-9-yl-xanthogenate (D609), which has been shown to inhibit SMS activity and contribute to tumor cell cytotoxicity. SMS2 expression is observed in several tissues such as liver, muscle, heart, brain, stomach, and kidney, highlighting SMS2′s importance in diverse physiological functions.

would this be suitable for IHC-P for both mouse and human tissue? and is it possible to receive this without the gelatin (just PBS)?

For Western Blot, is it recommended to use denatured or non-denatured conditions with SMS2 (7D10): sc-293384 antibody?
