SEE ALSO...

SIRT5 Antibody (G-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SIRT5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SIRT5 (G-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SIRT5, also known as NAD-dependent deacetylase sirtuin-5 or SIR2L5, is a 310 amino acid protein belonging to the class III sirtuins, which are crucial for regulating cellular processes through deacetylase activity. SIRT5 is primarily localized in mitochondria, where SIRT5 plays a significant role in metabolic regulation and may influence aging processes in humans. Mitochondrial localization of SIRT5 enables direct interaction with various metabolic pathways, including fatty acid oxidation and urea cycle. SIRT5 deacetylates specific mitochondrial proteins, modulating their activity and contributing to overall metabolic homeostasis of cells. Suramin can inhibit SIRT5 by disrupting growth factor binding, highlighting SIRT5′s potential as a therapeutic target in metabolic disorders. Two SIRT5 isoforms arise from alternative splicing, further diversifying functional roles within cells.
