SCO1 Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SCO1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SCO1 is a vital inner membrane protein located in the mitochondrion, playing a crucial role in the insertion and transport of copper to the active site of cytochrome c oxidase (COX), which is essential for energy production as it serves as the terminal enzyme in the respiratory chain. The proper functioning of SCO1 is particularly important in tissues with high oxidative phosphorylation demands, such as the brain, heart, and muscle, where SCO1 is predominantly expressed. Deficiencies in the SCO1 gene can lead to cytochrome c oxidase deficiency, a heterogeneous disorder that disrupts cellular energy metabolism. Furthermore, SCO1′s interaction with other proteins involved in mitochondrial function underscores SCO1′s significance in maintaining cellular health and energy balance. Anti-SCO1 antibody (B-1) is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating mitochondrial function and related disorders, providing insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying energy production and its associated pathologies.
