SEE ALSO...

RNase L Antibody (E-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects RNase L protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-RNase L antibody (E-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. RNase L plays a crucial role in the antiviral and antiproliferative activities of interferons, functioning as a key component of the interferon-regulated 2-5A system. This system is vital for the cellular response to viral infections, as RNase L activation leads to viral RNA degradation, thereby inhibiting viral replication. Additionally, mutations in RNase L have been linked to an increased risk of prostate cancer, making RNase L a significant candidate for the hereditary prostate cancer 1 (HPC1) allele. RNase L expression increases following interferon treatment, which also stimulates the production of 5-prime-triphosphorylated, 2-prime,5-prime-oligoadenylates (2-5A) from ATP by a group of synthetases. The importance of the 2-5A system in regulating viral and cellular growth underscores how defects in RNase L could lead to compromised immunity against viral infections and increased cancer susceptibility.
