Pax-6 is a crucial transcriptional regulator that plays a significant role in eye development and is essential for the formation of various ocular structures. Anti-Pax-6 antibody (AD1.5) orchestrates the expression of genes necessary for eye development, and mutations in the Pax-6 gene can lead to severe congenital conditions such as aniridia, characterized by iris hypoplasia and potential blindness. Pax-6 is involved in other anterior segment malformations, including Peters anomaly, which can result in corneal clouding and other serious developmental issues.
