SEE ALSO...

p-LKB1 Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Ser 431 phosphorylated LKB1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). p-LKB1 (C-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. LKB1, also known as STK11, is a critical serine/threonine kinase composed of 433 amino acids, playing a vital role in cellular energy homeostasis and tumor suppression. LKB1 is predominantly located in the cytoplasm and is essential for regulating cell growth and metabolism by activating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) in response to cellular stress. Proper localization of LKB1 ensures phosphorylation of downstream targets that mediate energy balance and cell cycle control. Mutations in LKB1 are associated with Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome, a hereditary condition that increases the risk of various cancers, highlighting LKB1′s importance in maintaining cellular integrity and preventing tumorigenesis. Phosphorylation at Ser431 by kinases such as p90 ribosomal S6 kinase and cAMP-dependent protein kinase is necessary for LKB1′s function in suppressing cell growth, making anti-p-LKB1 antibody (C-1) an invaluable tool for studying LKB1′s role in cancer biology and metabolic regulation.

Can the blocking peptide be used as a positive control in Western Blot?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide, sc-271924 P, is a short synthetic peptide and is intended for use as a negative control. It is not appropriate for use as a positive control in Western Blot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Reasonable potency and high specificityThis monoclonal antibody was independently tested by Kinexus Bioinformatics Corporation and is recommended for Western blotting. There was weak detection of ~60 kDa LKB1 in overnight serum-starved human A431 cells treated for 5 minutes with EGF on Western blots, but no significant cross-reactivities on these blots with any off-target proteins.
Date published: 2017-03-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent phosphospecific monoThis C-1 clone is specific for Ser 431 and a good choice for IHC(P) and WB applications.
