MARCKS (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody raised against MARCKS protein (also designated myristoylated alanine-rich C-kinase substrate (MACS), 80K-L (80kDa) protein, plasma membrane localizing actin filament cross-linking protein, adherens junction regulatory protein, cytoskeleton regulatory protein, protein kinase C (PKC) dependent phosphoprotein, Ca2+/calmodulin dependent signaling protein, membrane vesicle trafficking protein, phagocytosis regulatory protein, or PKC substrate) that detects MARCKS protein of mouse, rat and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MARCKS (C-6) antibody is available as non-conjugated form, as well as multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Myristoylated alanine-rich protein kinase C substrate (MARCKS), also designated 80K or 80K-L, has been identified as a major cellular substrate for protein kinase C. Human MARCKS is a 332 amino acid protein that dissociates from plasma membrane upon phosphorylation by various PKC isoforms. In NIH/3T3 fibroblasts, PKC α and PKC ε, but not PKC δ, are responsible for MARCKS phosphorylation. MARCKS binds Calmodulin, Actin and Synapsin and functions as a filamentous (F) Actin crosslinking protein.
