IRS-2 Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IRS-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IRS-2 (B-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IRS-2, originally identified as 4PS, plays a crucial role as a signaling intermediate downstream of several receptors, including insulin, insulin-like growth factor 1, interleukin-4, interleukin-9, and interleukin-13. IRS-2 function is vital for regulating glucose metabolism and cellular growth, as anti-IRS-2 antibody (B-5) is instrumental in mediating insulin and IGF-1 effects on cellular signaling pathways. IRS-2 is involved in activating mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and protein kinase B (PKB) pathways, which are essential for cellular responses to growth factors. IRS-2 translocation to nuclei of mouse embryo fibroblasts expressing insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor underscores its multifaceted role in cellular signaling and gene expression. Various mutations in insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor can disrupt IRS protein translocation, further emphasizing IRS-2′s critical nature in maintaining proper cellular function and metabolic homeostasis.
