IL-4 Antibody (HIL41) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects the IL-4 protein of human origin by WB, IP, IF, and ELISA. IL-4 Antibody (HIL41) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Interleukin-4 (IL-4), also known as B cell stimulatory factor-1, is a glycosylated cytokine secreted primarily by activated T lymphocytes, basophils, and mast cells. IL-4 plays a crucial role in the immune system by promoting the growth and differentiation of immune cells, particularly by enhancing the Th2 cell lineage while inhibiting Th1 cell development. The balance between these T helper cell subsets is vital for orchestrating appropriate immune responses; Th1 cells are associated with pro-inflammatory responses, while Th2 cells are involved in allergic reactions and responses to parasitic infections. Additionally, IL-4 is essential for immunoglobulin class switching, specifically inducing the production of IgE and enhancing IgG4 secretion by B cells, while suppressing the production of other immunoglobulin classes such as IgM, IgA, IgG1, IgG2, and IgG3. Notably, the signaling pathway activated by IL-4 involves the rapid tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat6, which is a critical step in mediating effects on immune cell function.
