IL-4 Antibody (OX81) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IL-4 of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IL-4 (OX81) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Interleukin-4 (IL-4), also known as B cell stimulatory factor-1, is a glycosylated cytokine secreted primarily by activated T lymphocytes, basophils, and mast cells. IL-4 plays a crucial role in the immune system by promoting the growth and differentiation of immune cells, particularly by favoring the expansion of the Th2 lineage over Th1 cells. This balance is vital for effective immune responses, as Th1 cells are associated with pro-inflammatory responses, while Th2 cells are involved in humoral immunity and allergic reactions. Additionally, IL-4 is essential for immunoglobulin class switching, specifically inducing the production of IgE and enhancing IgG4 secretion by B cells, while suppressing the production of other immunoglobulin classes such as IgM, IgA, and IgG1-3. The signaling pathway activated by IL-4 involves the rapid tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat6, which is a critical step in mediating its effects on immune cell function.
