SEE ALSO...

GCH-I Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GCH-I in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GCH-I (G-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GTP cyclohydrolase I (GCH-I) plays a crucial role as the first and rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), which is essential for the production of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. GCH-I functions by enabling BH4 to serve as a cofactor for tyrosine hydroxylase and tryptophan hydroxylase, both critical for synthesizing dopamine and serotonin, respectively. These neurotransmitters are vital for mood regulation, and deficiencies in BH4 can lead to conditions such as depression. Mutations in GCH-I are linked to serious neurological disorders, including malignant hyperphenylalaninemia and dopa-responsive dystonia, highlighting GCH-I′s significance in both metabolic pathways and neurological health.

Is it suitable for IHC and whether acidic or alkaline antigen retrieval solution is appropriate?

Asked by: zhw123
Thank you for your question. Anti-GCH-I Antibody (G-8) is only recommended for detection of GCH-I isoforms GCH-1, GCH-2, GCH-3 and GCH-4 of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA. We do not recommend it for use in immunohistochemistry.
