SEE ALSO...

Fhit Antibody (G-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Fhit protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Fhit (G-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Fhit, a member of the histidine triad (HIT) superfamily, plays a crucial role as a dinucleoside 5′,5′′′-P1,P3-triphosphate hydrolase, which regulates nucleotide metabolism and maintains cellular homeostasis. Fhit function is particularly important in tumor suppression, as alterations in FHIT gene structure and expression have been implicated in various cancers, including esophageal, head and neck, lung, gastric, breast, and cervical carcinomas. FHIT gene is located at the FRA3B common fragile site, making Fhit highly susceptible to damage from carcinogens, and the unique pattern of mutational inactivation observed in FHIT gene distinguishes Fhit from other known tumor suppressors. Studies have shown that loss of FHIT exons correlates with smoking duration and asbestos exposure, highlighting Fhit′s potential as a biomarker for cancer risk.
