ERK 1/2 Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects ERK 1/2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ERK 1/2 (C-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ERK 1/2 proteins, also known as extracellular-signal-regulated kinases, play a crucial role in mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways, which are essential for transmitting signals from growth factors, steroid hormones, and neurotransmitters to the nucleus of the cell. ERK 1/2 kinases are primarily located in the cytoplasm but translocate to the nucleus upon activation, where ERK 1/2 regulate various cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and transcription. Phosphorylation of ERK 1 and ERK 2 by upstream kinases like MAP kinase kinase (MEK) is vital for activation, and this process is tightly regulated through specific consensus motifs.
