CROT Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CROT (carnitine O-octanoyltransferase) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CROT is a vital enzyme located in peroxisomes, primarily expressed in the liver, kidney, and proximal intestinal epithelium, where CROT plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism. By catalyzing the reversible conversion of acyl-CoAs to their corresponding carnitine esters, CROT facilitates the transport of fatty acids from peroxisomes to mitochondria, enabling their further degradation through β-oxidation. This process is essential for energy metabolism in eukaryotic cells, particularly for medium-chain fatty acids, which are critical energy sources. Notably, CROT exhibits a preference for straight and branched medium-chain acyl-CoAs with chain lengths ranging from C6 to C10, underscoring CROT′s importance in metabolic pathways. Additionally, malonyl-CoA can inhibit CROT activity, highlighting the regulatory mechanisms that control fatty acid oxidation and energy production. Anti-CROT antibody (E-2) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying lipid metabolism and related disorders.
