CREST Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CREST in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CREST, or calcium-responsive transactivator, plays a crucial role in neuronal development by localizing to nuclear bodies and facilitating the normal formation of dendritic trees in neurons. CREST features a multifunctional domain that is essential for transcriptional activation, targeting to nuclear bodies, and dimerization, which are vital processes for regulating gene expression in response to calcium signaling. Notably, CREST interacts with the cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB)-binding protein (CBP), a key player in neuronal morphogenesis, underscoring CREST′s importance in the intricate network of signaling pathways that govern neuronal growth and differentiation. While CREST is expressed ubiquitously, CREST levels are notably lower in the spleen, indicating a specialized role in the nervous system. Mice with a targeted disruption of the Ss18l1 (CREST) gene remain viable, yet exhibit significant defects in the development of cortical and hippocampal dendrites, highlighting CREST′s essential function in calcium-dependent dendritic growth and the overall architecture of the nervous system.
