Caspase-7 Antibody (10.1.60) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects caspase-7 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Caspase-7 is a crucial member of the Ced-3/caspase-1 family of cysteine proteases, which play a vital role in the apoptotic process by executing programmed cell death. Anti-caspase-7 antibody (10.1.60) recognizes protein primarily located in the cytoplasm that activates in response to apoptotic signals, where caspase-7 translocates to the nucleus to cleave specific substrates, including poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), thereby facilitating the dismantling of cellular components during apoptosis. Caspase-7′s ability to cleave PARP into an apoptotic fragment underscores its importance in regulating cellular responses to stress and DNA damage, making caspase-7 a key player in maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing tumorigenesis. Additionally, caspase-7 interacts with other caspases, such as caspase-3 and caspase-6, to amplify the apoptotic signal, highlighting caspase-7′s integral role in the apoptotic machinery. Caspase-7 monoclonal antibody (10.1.60) serves as an essential tool for researchers studying apoptosis and related cellular processes.

I am using caspase-7 (10.1.60): sc-81654 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
