SEE ALSO...

caspase-7 Antibody (10-1-62) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects caspase-7 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). caspase-7 Antibody (10-1-62) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Caspase-7, also known as Mch3, ICE-LAP3, or CMH-1, is a crucial member of the Ced-3/caspase-1 family of cysteine proteases, which are integral to the apoptotic process. This family is characterized by unique sequence, structure, and substrate specificity, distinguishing caspase-7 from other protease families. Caspase-7 plays a vital role in apoptosis by cleaving specific target proteins essential for cellular survival, including poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), which is involved in DNA repair and cellular stress responses. PARP cleavage by caspase-7 leads to the generation of an apoptotic fragment, facilitating the progression of programmed cell death. Caspase-7 is activated by upstream caspases, such as caspase-10, in response to apoptotic signals, highlighting caspase-7′s importance in the regulation of apoptosis and cellular homeostasis.
