SEE ALSO...

β-casein Antibody (F20.14) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects beta-casein of human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). β-casein Antibody (F20.14) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Beta-casein plays a vital role in newborn mammal nutrition as one of the primary proteins found in mammalian milk, particularly human milk, where beta-casein exists alongside κ-casein. Beta-casein′s unique structure, characterized by high phosphorylation and calcium-binding capacity, is crucial for forming micelles that enhance milk protein digestibility in neonates. The β-casein/κ-casein ratio is particularly significant in colostrum, which has a higher ratio than transitional and mature milk, facilitating better nutrient absorption during the critical early days of life. The human β-casein gene (Bca) is regulated by a network of transcription factors, including Stat5 and C/EBPb, which respond to lactogenic hormones, ensuring beta-casein production meets infant nutritional needs. Additionally, β-casein gene expression is influenced by NFkB, which acts as a negative regulator during pregnancy, highlighting the complex interplay of factors governing beta-casein synthesis.
