SEE ALSO...

BAALC Antibody (H-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects BAALC protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BAALC (H-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BAALC protein, which stands for brain and acute leukemia, cytoplasmic, is a 180 amino acid protein expressed in hematopoietic and neural cells, localizing to both membrane and cytoplasm, and existing as multiple alternatively spliced isoforms. BAALC interacts with calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha (CaMKIIα), which is crucial for synaptic function, particularly at postsynaptic lipid rafts, highlighting its importance in neuronal signaling and plasticity. BAALC may be overexpressed in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), suggesting a potential role in tumorigenesis and making BAALC a significant marker for studying this malignancy. BAALC gene is located on human chromosome 8, a region associated with various diseases and genetic disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and certain leukemias and lymphomas, underscoring BAALC relevance in both normal physiology and disease states.
