ALDH5A1 Antibody (F-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects ALDH5A1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ALDH5A1, also known as succinate semialdehyde dehydrogenase (SSDH), is a crucial 535 amino acid protein localized in the mitochondria, where ALDH5A1 plays a vital role in the metabolism of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). ALDH5A1 is essential for recycling GABA from the synaptic cleft, thereby regulating neurotransmission and maintaining proper brain function. Dysregulation or mutations in ALDH5A1 can lead to succinate semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency, a condition characterized by severe ataxia and developmental delays, highlighting the importance of ALDH5A1 in neurological health.
