ZFR2 Inhibitors

ZFR2 inhibitors mainly target processes associated with RNA synthesis, processing, and modification. These molecules were chosen based on the general understanding of ZFR2's function as an RNA-binding protein. For instance, Actinomycin D, α-amanitin, and DRB specifically inhibit RNA synthesis by either intercalating into DNA or by directly inhibiting RNA polymerase II. These inhibitors halt the transcription process and can indirectly impact proteins like ZFR2 that require specific RNA molecules to bind and function.

On the other hand, chemicals like Spliceostatin A and Pladienolide B directly target the mRNA splicing machinery. By inhibiting spliceosome function, these chemicals can affect the pool of RNA molecules available for proteins like ZFR2 to interact with. The alteration in the RNA landscape within the cell can subsequently influence ZFR2's activity. Furthermore, compounds such as Cordycepin and Ribavirin are nucleoside analogs that have distinct effects on RNA metabolism. While Cordycepin can terminate mRNA synthesis, Ribavirin affects mRNA capping and other RNA-related processes.
