NKAIN3, or Sodium/potassium-transporting ATPase subunit gamma-interacting protein 3, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NKAIN3 gene. This protein is a member of the Nkain family, which is known to interact with the sodium/potassium-transporting ATPase (Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase) complex. The Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase complex is a fundamental ion pump found in the plasma membrane of all animal cells and is essential for maintaining the electrochemical gradient across the cell membrane.The exact biological function of NKAIN3 is not fully elucidated, but it is suggested to play a role in the regulation of the Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase activity.
