Influenza Virus NS1A Binding Protein (IVNS1ABP) is a protein encoded by the IVNS1ABP gene in humans. As its name suggests, the protein was initially identified due to its ability to bind to the NS1 protein of the influenza A virus. The NS1 protein of influenza A is a multifunctional protein that interferes with the host's immune response, enhancing the virus's ability to replicate and cause disease. By binding to NS1, IVNS1ABP may influence the lifecycle of the influenza A virus within host cells, although the exact implications of this interaction are not fully understood.
Beyond its interaction with influenza, IVNS1ABP is also known to participate in several essential cellular processes in the host. Notably, it is involved in the regulation of cell division, acting as a component of the mitotic spindle, the structure that segregates chromosomes during cell division.IVNS1ABP also plays a role in the regulation of gene expression. It is a component of the nuclear pore complex, a structure that controls the transport of molecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm. This position allows IVNS1ABP to influence the transport of RNA and proteins, and thus, gene expression.
