ZNF12 plays a crucial role in transcriptional regulation, particularly in modulating MAPK signaling pathways, which are essential for various cellular functions, including growth, differentiation, and response to stress. The KRAB domain of ZNF12 interacts with KAP1, facilitating recruitment of histone-modifying proteins that can alter chromatin structure and influence gene expression. The gene encoding ZNF12 is located on human chromosome 7p22.1, highlighting significance in genetic regulation and potential implications in developmental and disease processes.
