VAP-1 Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects VAP-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). VAP-1 (E-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. VAP-1, or vascular adhesion protein-1, plays a crucial role in immune response by facilitating lymphocyte adhesion to vascular endothelium, which is essential for migration from bloodstream to lymphoid tissues and inflammation sites. VAP-1 is a type II transmembrane sialoglycoprotein predominantly expressed on endothelial cells during inflammatory conditions, where expression significantly increases. VAP-1 features a single transmembrane domain and contains N- and O-glycosylation sites within its extracellular domain, vital for function. VAP-1 exists mainly as a homodimer and serves dual roles as both a monoamine oxidase and adhesion molecule. Proper glycosylation of VAP-1 is critical for mediating lymphocyte adhesion, thereby influencing lymphocyte recirculation during immune responses. VAP-1 is expressed in various smooth muscle cells, although not facilitating lymphocyte binding in these cells, instead involving deamination of primary amines. Elevated soluble VAP-1 levels in circulation have been associated with inflammatory liver diseases, highlighting potential as a biomarker for such conditions.
