SEE ALSO...

Transketolase Antibody (H-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Transketolase protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Transketolase antibody (H-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Transketolase (TKT) is a vital enzyme in the pentose phosphate pathway, where TKT catalyzes the transfer of two-carbon units between sugars, facilitating the conversion of glucose into ribose-5-phosphate, which is essential for nucleotide synthesis. This function is particularly important in rapidly dividing cells, such as those found in tumors, as TKT provides the necessary building blocks for DNA and RNA synthesis, thereby supporting cell proliferation. Additionally, TKT plays a protective role against oxidative stress by generating NADPH, which is crucial for maintaining cellular redox balance. TKT is predominantly located in the cytoplasm of various tissues, including the liver, kidney, and small intestine, highlighting TKT′s significance in metabolic regulation and cellular health.
