SEE ALSO...

Thyroglobulin Antibody (1D4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects thyroglobulin in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Thyroglobulin is a crucial protein synthesized in the thyroid gland, serving as the precursor for the iodinated thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine, which are essential for regulating metabolism, growth, and development. Anti-thyroglobulin antibody (1D4) enables researchers to study post-translational modifications, including glycosylation, which are necessary for thyroglobulin stability and activity. These modifications facilitate correct folding and maturation of thyroglobulin while playing a significant role in secretion and subsequent hormone synthesis. Disruptions in these processes can lead to conditions such as goiter, characterized by thyroid gland enlargement, often resulting from defective dimerization and transport of thyroglobulin to the Golgi complex. Thyroglobulin monoclonal antibody (1D4) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying thyroid function and related disorders, providing insights into molecular mechanisms underlying thyroid hormone synthesis and regulation.

Can Thyroglobulin (1D4): sc-53543 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. Yes, Thyroglobulin (1D4): sc-53543 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
